Position Title: Sewing Studio & Threads Program Coordinator
Reports To: President & CEO
Employment Type: Hybrid, Part-Time, ~60 hours per month
Compensation: $25/hour
Location: 61 Harvard Street, Worcester, MA 01609 (Candidates should be within a 20-30 minute drive)

Love Your Labels fiercely advocates for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and families. Our mission is to support 2SLGBTQIA+ youth through art, fashion, and design and work with families and communities to create inclusive and loving spaces everywhere. Our programs, including Threads Fashion Design Program for 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth and Drag Story Time events that promote literacy and reading together, emphasize community, creativity, and expression. As we continue to expand, we are seeking passionate individuals to join our team and contribute to our mission.
Position Summary:
The Sewing Studio & Threads Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, executing, and managing the Threads Youth Fashion Design Program and other fashion and arts-based programs within our new Sewing & Creative Studio. This hybrid role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with LGBTQ+ youth and families. The Coordinator will manage the studio space, oversee program logistics, and support various events and activities.
Threads Youth Fashion is a program for high school age youth where students use fashion design as a lens to discuss personal expression, gender, and sexuality with the goal of helping youth on their journey of self discovery.
The Threads curriculum is 16 weeks and currently runs one cohort per year, usually from October-March during the school year and concludes with a Youth Fashion Showcase, a free community event. You can learn more about the program here.
Key Responsibilities:
Threads Youth Fashion Design Program Coordination:
Assist in planning, organizing, and executing the Threads program for queer and trans high school-age youth.
Communicate with students and their families to provide updates, gather feedback, and address any concerns.
Coordinate scheduling of program sessions, workshops, and events, ensuring smooth operation and participant engagement.
Order and manage inventory of fabrics, sewing materials, and other necessary supplies for the Threads program.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, participation, and progress within the program.
Sewing & Creative Studio Management:
Oversee the operations of the Sewing & Creative Studio, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment.
Schedule and manage studio usage for various programs, including Threads Pop-ups, Makeup is For Everyone classes, and more.
Maintain inventory of materials and equipment, ensuring all resources are available for program activities.
Program and Event Support:
Assist in the coordination and execution of affiliated events, such as the Youth Fashion Showcase and other community gatherings.
Collaborate with the President & CEO and the Grants and Finance Manager to draft outcomes reports and support program goals.
Communication and Networking:
Foster relationships with community members, partners, and stakeholders to enhance program outreach and engagement.
Utilize Google products like Docs to create and manage content related to program coordination and planning.
Qualifications:
Experience in administrative assisting, project management, or similar roles.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills, comfortable networking and connecting with new people.
Proficiency with Google products (Docs, Sheets, etc.) and content creation.
Comfortable using AI tools like ChatGPT for ethical purposes to advance organizational goals.
Passion for and experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and families.
Ability to manage a flexible schedule to accommodate various studio activities, including weekdays, evenings, and some weekends. This role offers the autonomy to design your schedule to best fit program needs and personal work-life balance.
Ability to commute to the youth space in Worcester, MA.
